ESS was founded 1995 in Aremark, Norway. Their goal when developing a new tuning product is to enhance the performance characteristics of the car without compromising comfort, driveability, durability, emissions and fuel consumption under normal driving conditions. One of the last achievements ESS made was the development of the VT2 Supercharger System for the BMW Me CSL.
The Supercharge is a more sophisticated alternative to the well-known turbocharger. The advantage in relation to the turbocharger is that you get no "delay" because the Supercharger shows its power at once. With the Supercharger you get a far more cultivated and controlled power development, with smooth power and flexibility as the key word. The ESS Supercharger system has been developed to meet the demands of today's motorists and the increasingly stringent requirements concerning environmental emissions.

Featuring the highly efficient and reliable Vortech V2SQ supercharger unit combined with the new ESS LiquaFlow high capacity liquid intercooler manifold system with front mounted heat exchanger and ice expansion system for superior discharge temperature reduction and optimal power development under all conditions.
The redesigned ESS MSS54 engine control software is perfectly calibrated for the supercharged engine providing optimum ignition timing under all conditions, recalibrated EGas for quicker throttle response, recalibrated VANOS control and perfectly optimized fuel delivery supplied by 6 larger Bosch injection valves included with the kit. ESS has spent countless hours developing and testing the new S54 VT2 system and the end result is a product they are extremely proud of.

The CSL drives and feels just like an original CSL until you step on the accelerator.. Then you will be completely chocked by the acceleration the supercharged CSL provides. The system maintains all OBD-II functions and it is backed by a comprehensive 2 year, unlimited mileage warranty program. The system installs in 8-10 hours using normal hand tools and no irreversible modifications to the car are necessary. ESS products are covered for 2yr/unlimited mileage from date of purchase. ESS engine and transmission software are guaranteed for life.
"Loaded", a 2003 BMW M3 CSL with ESS VTR SC system has set a new street legal record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the time 7:22.9. This car has over 40.000 supercharged track miles on it with no rebuilds to date. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is considered to be the most challenging track in the world. The track spans over 20.8 km and has got almost all types of corners, extremely fast and very slow. Legendary F1-driver Jackie Stewart invented the famous nickname for the track - The Green Hell. Until 1976 F1-races were held at the track. The absolute lap record around the track is 6:11.13 was set by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 back in 1983. During scheduled times of almost the entire year the track is open for the public where you can take your own car around the track.
