The Speedy Bavarian gets the perfect brake: MOV´IT® ceramic braking system with TÜV certification for BMW M3. The list of advantages is long: excellent braking power, a high level of stability, high-precision braking force, outstanding response even on wet surfaces and a braking system that is 50% lighter. With its third-generation ceramic braking system, the brake specialist MOV´IT has developed the perfect solution for the BMW M3.

MOV´IT-CER ceramic braking system is 50 percent lighter
The new braking system represents a huge development achievement for MOV´IT’s engineers, who have come one step closer to their aim of designing the perfect brake. The first generation of the MOV´IT-CER ceramic braking system was already able to perform 20 percent better than those of other manufacturers. When the second generation was introduced, this advantage over competitors’ systems rose to 40 percent.

With the third and most recent generation, MOV´IT-CER GEN.3, the brake experts have managed to achieve a level of performance that is 70 percent greater than that of other ceramic braking systems on the market. Along with its excellent braking power, the MOV´IT-CER GEN.3 also distinguishes itself through its high level of braking stability. As well as this, the braking force is extremely precise and the response remains excellent even on wet roads. In addition, the new third generation ceramic braking system is 50 percent lighter than its standard brake systems.

380 millimetre brake discs on both of the BMW M3’s axles
This ceramic braking system is ideal for the BMW M3 (type E92) which embodies both the high-performance saloon of the BMW 3 series and the Bavarian manufacturer’s athletic aspirations for medium-weight cars. The ideal braking solution comes by way of the MOV´IT Ceramic GEN.3 with 380 x 40 mm brake discs and 6-piston BILLET saddle on the front axle (11,412 Euro including VAT) and 380 x 32 mm brake discs with 4-piston BILLET saddle on the rear wheels (9812 Euro). MOV´IT is supplying the entire braking system for the BMW M3 together with its TÜV certification so that the driver can easily include the information on the braking system with the rest of the car’s documentation.

With its new innovation, MOV´IT impressively demonstrates its own capabilities as well as the know-how of its team when it comes to braking systems. The use of high-quality materials, the excellent workmanship and the optimal fine-tuning of the braking system to vehicle type and application guarantee the excellent performance of each system. Because it is only when the key criteria of vehicle type and intended application are taken into account can the dream of a perfect braking system become a reality. A universal system on the other hand cannot produce satisfactory results. That is why MOV´IT, the number one specialist when it comes to high-performance braking systems, develops diverse product lines, thus ensuring the perfect solution for every application.
RENM performance have released a striking and imposing upgrade for the BMW E92 M3. Their re-working of the E92 M3 is known as the ‘Agitator’. According to most definitions, an agitator stirs up others in order to upset the status quo, or put more simply, is an apparatus that shakes or stirs. Based on both the appearance and performance improvements of the RENM Agitator, the transformation achieves the desired effect.

The E92 M3 is a capable performer in standard form, however its performance is compromised by restrictive OEM components. The Agitator transforms the M3 into a true performance vehicle with vastly improved driving dynamics. The tuning programme consists of an ECU re-calibration, inconel high-performance exhaust, carbon fiber air-intake, sports air filters and adjustable ride height/dampening suspension.

The M3 Agitator uses inconel Formula 1 exhaust technology, which is exceptional in terms of its extreme stability and heat resistance. The rear silencer is also twelve kilograms lighter, a 40% weight-reduction over the production model, and incorporates internal design that increases performance significantly.

The visual and dynamic improvements to the M3 Agitator include customised T6 forged 3 piece wheels, adjustable coilover suspension, hallmark-designed 76mm diameter tail pipes, aero carbon fiber front spoiler, boot lid and rear diffuser.

APP Europe brings the look of the M-cars with performance on the road. With a sporty tuning program gives the current BMW E92 M3 APP a very exciting finish. The German StopTech High Performance Brake Distribution offers a thoroughbred performance vehicle for the ambitious Trackday pilots. The goal: weight reduction, driving dynamics, engine performance and stable braking!

But the Stop Tech STR saves high-performance brake system on each axis one of the M3 over 8 Kg: The Stop Tech STR braking system is made of forged aluminum, the front axle is fitted with anodized 6-piston calipers with two-piece 380x35mm discs - the rear axle with four-piston and 355x32 discs. (A sharp deceleration rate of -13.4 m / sec!)

In fact, many are in APP-piece and multi-piece wheel designs to choose from. Here, however, the light version of ATS "Race Light" 19-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 2 high performance tires has been selected. This combination saves per wheel rims compared to the standard 1.5 kg, and that's in the driving dynamics considerably noticeable.

The chassis can now be easily described as very athletic. The one KW Club Sport sports suspension makes it possible. This joins the Titan of Akrapovic Evolution system, a titanium exhaust system with sport metal catalysts, which is 23 kg lighter than the series.

From the Swiss StopTech partner who Collaction AG Widnau, the performance of the M3 V8 by 30 horsepower was increased to 450 hp. This increases the torque by 40 Nm, which bear also much earlier. This makes the power delivery of revving much more harmonious and increases the fun factor at the track!

From the film specialist and longtime partner APP, CFC (Car Film Components), the car with a sensational new film has been plastered. A titanium silver / matt with metallic effect, that is the culmination of a completely successful Optical project cars!

Now the output values are well within the range of pure-bred sports car. The relatively inconspicuous overtaking will certainly lead to bewilderment of many diverse sports car owners. More information: www.app-automotive.com

At the premiere of the 17th BMW Art Car Jeff Koons unveiled and signed his car in front of 300 international VIP guests on June 1 in the Centre Pompidou, one of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions for modern and contemporary art. It is the same place where Roy Lichtenstein back in 1977 first presented and signed his Art Car.

In the spirit of Calder, Stella, Lichtenstein, Warhol, BMW announced this year that the 17th Art Car created by Jeff Koons will race where the first rolling pieces of art by legendary artists raced – at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France on June 12-13, 2010. Koons’ canvas is a BMW M3 GT2, which was homologated to compete at this year’s running of the world’s most famous endurance race.

On June 2, between 11 am to 9 pm, the public will have the chance to see the Art Car free of charge in the Forum of the Centre Pompidou. At 5.30 pm Jeff Koons will participate in a book signing at the official book store of the museum before he will talk about his work in conversation with Alain Seban, President of the Centre Pompidou, at 6 pm at the Forum of the museum.

The Design Process

As part of his creative process, the artist collected images of race cars, related graphics, vibrant colors, speed and explosions. The resulting artwork of bright colors conceived by Koons is evocative of power, motion and bursting energy. Its silver interior along with the powerful exterior design, the Art Car will impart a dynamic appearance even when it’s standing still.

“These race cars are like life, they are powerful and there is a lot of energy,” said Koons. “You can participate with it, add to it and let yourself transcend with its energy. There is a lot of power under that hood and I want to let my ideas transcend with the car – it’s really to connect with that power”.

Koons has been in an intense collaboration with BMW’s team in Munich for months – melding his skill with sophisticated BMW engineering – to ensure that the 17th BMW Art Car will be race-ready for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Traveling back and forth to Germany many times since the February 2 announcement that Koons would create the 17th BMW Art Car, the artist has worked with the BMW engineering and design teams to conduct in-depth explorations of materials and application options that will prove crucial to optimizing both the aesthetic and aerodynamic attributes of the race car. Working with actual 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) models of the BMW M3 GT2, Koons could simulate the application of the graphic to the car’s surfaces and evaluate it from all angles.

Koons even donned a helmet and joined BMW’s Rahal Letterman Racing Team for testing in Sebring, Florida, on February 23. Koons was able to experience the M3 GT2 at race speed to further inspire his design. As Koons describes it, he witnessed “the raw unfiltered performance” of the M3 GT2 from the seat of a historic BMW M1 race car. Koons also drove a BMW M3 Coupe on the circuit to further the dynamic exercis

Under Koons’ direct guidance and supervision, his BMW Art Car was produced in assistance with a team of BMW engineers and designers at Schmid Design, (ORT), Bavaria. The challenge to create the BMW Art Car had to do with using a light material and a design that would not interfere with the racecar's aerodynamics and weight. Timing was also an issue, as there was only a two month window between the first design sketches and the Paris world premiere. This is why digital print on car wrapping vinyl was used covered by a double clear-coating to bring out the color. To apply hundreds of dynamic lines of Koons' design onto the car, CAD designs were translated from 3D into 2D for the printing process and then painstakingly applied to the entire car as well as onto individual spare parts. Koons design incorporates many bright contrasting colors to communicate the aesthetics of power. The concept design was transformed into hard eged lines of color. Graphics of debris were added to the rear sides and back of the car to similute the power of the car. Furthermore, two graphic rings on the rear of the car represent supersonic acceleration.

Koons and BMW

The germination of Koons’ collaboration with BMW began in 2003, when he expressed his desire to create a BMW Art Car. His relationship with BMW started more than two decades ago when he drove a BMW while residing in Munich, home to the BMW Group headquarters. Koons is known for his heartfelt appreciation of cars. Earlier this year he was even recognized by music icon Bono of U2 as one of the ideal artists to design a car that would make the world fall in love with automobiles again.

Koons’ creative process for the BMW Art Car mirrors techniques, some borrowed from transportation design and development, which he regularly employs for his artistic production. For example, in the creation of Koons’ monumental sculptures, his studio uses 3-D CAD models to evaluate the surfaces, assembles them via methods found in bike chop shops, and paints them in a manner based on sophisticated automotive painting techniques.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans race

In April 2010, BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen announced the driver line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Andy Priaulx (GB), Dirk Müller (DE) and Dirk Werner (DE) will race the BMW Art Car #79. Jörg Müller (DE), Augusto Farfus (BR), Uwe Alzen (DE) will drive the BMW Le Mans car #78.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world’s oldest endurance race in all of sports car racing, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, Sarthe, France. Commonly known as the Grand Prix of Endurance, it is organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and runs on a circuit containing closed public roads. The race is designed not only to test a car and driver’s ability to be quick, but also to last over a 24-hour period.

French auctioneer and racing driver Hervé Poulain first had the idea of asking an artist to paint the car he himself would compete with. Taking up this initiative in 1975, American artist Alexander Calder painted a BMW racing car, thus laying the foundation. The Art Car experiment was soon continued: a year later, Calder Art Car co-driver Sam Posey introduced Frank Stella to the idea of BMW Art Cars when the New York-based artist covered a BMW with his typical grid-like pattern. Stella’s work was followed by a series of celebrated pop artists: Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. Apart from Rauschenberg’s Art Car, all these took part in the Le Mans 24-hour race, some of them enjoying remarkable success.

The BMW M3 GT2

Derived from the BMW M3 high-performance sports car, the BMW M3 GT2 boasts a 4.0-liter V8 engine with a maximum output of 500 bhp, an upgraded chassis, racing-caliber brakes, and extensive use of lightweight materials. Able to reach 100 mph in 3.4 seconds, the BMW M3 GT2 is rapidly emerging as a real first year contender at this year’s event.

For the Comeback at 24 Le Mans BMW Motorsport is supported by numerous successful partners. This is why the BMW M3 GT2 will be labeled with the logos of Castrol, Crowne Plaza, Dunlop, Randstad, Sympatex, LuK, H&R, BBS and NGK for the race on the “Circuit de la Sarthe”.

BMW Art Cars

Since 1975, artists from throughout the world have turned BMW automobiles into art signifying a particular period through the Art Car program. In 2007, the latest installment was revealed with Olafur Eliasson’s “Your mobile expectations: BMW H2R project.” Many of the cars by the likes of Warhol, Lichtenstein, Stella, Rauschenberg, Hockney and Holzer have been exhibited in renowned museums throughout the world including the Louvre, the Guggenheim Museums, and the Shanghai Art Museum. They have been displayed at the BMW Museum in Munich, between 2006 and 2010 and many went on a world tour throughout Asia, Russia, Africa, India, the United States and Mexico. The Koons car number, “79,” pays tribute to the 1979 Andy Warhol car. The Warhol car was assigned the number “76,” an homage to the 1976 Frank Stella car, both of which raced at Le Mans.

The home of all BMW Art Cars is the BMW Museum in Munich. Starting in September, Koons’ 17th BMW Art Car will be presented there together with some of its predecessors.

With over 100 major projects worldwide, BMW Group cultural programs have been an integral part of the company’s contributions to society for almost 40 years. Besides contemporary art, architecture and design, classical music and jazz are key components of this engagement.

The BMW Group

The BMW Group is one of the most successful manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the world with its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. As a global company, the BMW Group operates 24 production facilities in 13 countries and has a global sales network in more than 140 countries.

The BMW Group achieved a global sales volume of approximately 1.29 million automobiles and over 87,000 motorcycles for the 2009 financial year. The pre-tax profit for 2009 was euro 413 million, revenues totalled euro 50.68 billion. At 31 December 2009, the company employed a global workforce of approximately 96,000 associates. The success of the BMW Group has always been built on long-term thinking and responsible action. G-POWER congratulates BMW Motorsport on its first place in this year's 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. And, on this race weekend, it presents two road-legal BMW M3 Clubsport models in homage to the BMW works team:

G-POWER M3 TORNADO CS / G-POWER M3 GT2 S

    * 600 hp / 441 kW at 7,800 r/min (+ 180 hp / 132 kW)
* 580 Nm at 5,300 r/min (+ 180 Nm)
* Top speed: > 320 km/h with 6-speed manual
* Top speed: > 330 km/h with 7-speed DCT
* 0-100 km/h: TORNADO CS < 4.3s / GT2 S < 4.1s
* 0-200 km/h: TORNADO CS < 11.8s
* Supercharger system SK II CS - starting at € 10,800.00 plus tax, plus titanium exhaust system and installation
* Complete vehicle M3 GT2 S - starting at € 139,495.00 plus tax

More than a quarter of a century ago, the history of G-POWER began with the modification of BMW 02 models for competition use. Today, this tradition is carried forward by the G-POWER Motorsport Division established at the beginning of 2010. The function of this newly founded department includes comprehensive care of our motorsport customers, as well as the development of the associated "sports equipment". The spectrum ranges from reduced-weight and increased-performance road-legal M3 models for "private" track laps to full-blooded racing versions of the M3 with dry weight down to 1,300 kg and output of more than 700 hp, complete with all the associated kit required by private motorsports teams.

Spectators at this year's 24-hour race at the Nürburgring had the chance to admire the first creation of the G-POWER Motorsport Division. The G-POWER M3 GT2 S is aimed specifically at customers looking for a vehicle along the lines of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but have thus far been unable to find one in the BMW product line-up - thoroughbred racing technology combined with exceptional performance and fully road legal.

In answer to this demand, we present the G-POWER M3 TORNADO CS as the civilian version of the imposing G-POWER M3 GT2 S. When it comes to performance, both vehicles rely on the mighty SK II CS supercharger system. Following intensive development work, starting with CAD development, and followed by prototype build and extensive test driving and hot weather testing in the United Arab Emirates, this system sets new benchmarks in performance and quality. At the heart of the supercharger system is the high-performance ASA T1-522 radial compressor, which also runs in a similar format in the ALPINA B6 GT3 race car. A dual-flow carbon air intake, a substantial cast aluminium charge air cooler and a cast aluminium airbox provide the fundamentals enabling the maximum charge pressure of 0.5 bar to generate output of 600 hp and 580 Nm. In order that the increased output remains weight neutral, G-POWER uses a titanium exhaust system that delivers a considerable reduction in both back pressure and weight with its manifold and 2 x 100 dcpi metal catalytic converters. The weight advantage versus the series production exhaust system is no less than 26 kg.

The engine pampering session with G-POWER is all it takes to set the G-POWER Clubsport variants apart from the production standard. A never-ending supply of torque is the name of the game once the forced induction M3 engine stretches its legs out of the mid rev range to storm all the way to the limiter as if fired from a catapult.

At the same time, G-POWER also gets to work on the flab, placing the BMW M3 on a strict weight loss regime. This is where the G-POWER GT2 S comes into its own, with a full carbon body kit bearing the current GT2 design. The front skirt, all four wings and the rear skirt are all replaced by ultra-lightweight carbon elements. A carbon front lip and the multi-part carbon rear spoiler also improve aerodynamic downforce. On the G-POWER M3 TORNADO CS, a carbon spoiler lip and rear diffuser make for reduced lift. A particularly nice touch is the running lights integrated into the rear diffuser.

G-POWER was also able to make further savings in the wheel rims. All-new forged SIVERSTONE CLUBSPORT alloy rims measuring 9.0 X 20 inches and 10.5 X 20 inches for the TORNADO CS, and 3-part SILVERSTONE RS forged wheels measuring 9.0 X 20 and 11.5 X 20 inches on the GT2 S significantly reduce unsprung mass, thus delivering better acceleration and greater cornering agility. The TORNADO CS is guaranteed firm grip with the tarmac courtesy of 255/30 ZR 20 and 295/25 ZR 20 MICHELIN Pilot Sport tyres, while the G-POWER GT2 S is fitted with MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup sports rubber measuring 245/30 R 20 and 315/25 R 20.

Weight neutral, yet highly effective, is the G-POWER "CLUBSPORT" suspension package. It optimises the BMW M3's road manners at race track level and encompasses a coilover suspension that is independently adjustable for both compression and rebound, a stabiliser kit for the front and rear axles, as well as support bearings that enable correction of camber or caster.

On the inside of the vehicle, G-POWER has swapped the series production front seats for carbon racing buckets that not only support the driver in his battle with centrifugal forces, but are also each 12 kg lighter than their standard counterparts. Just like that, another 24 kg disappear. The G-POWER M3 GT2 S also goes without its rear bench, while the interior is upgraded with an individual G-POWER leather trim package. Leather and Alcantara applications in G-POWER orange with blue stitching give the sporty and spartan interior a touch of class and a luxurious feel.

Overall, the G-POWER weight loss program for the M3 GT2 S adds up to around 150 kg, bringing the dry weight down to less than 1,500 kg. It goes without saying that the supercharged 600 horses take this in their stride. The GT2 S handles the dash from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. The G-POWER M3 TORNADO CS does the same trip in 4.3 seconds and from 0-200 km in 11.8 seconds. The top speed for both vehicles is limited by transmission ratios. With the 6-speed manual it stands at more than 320 km/h and with the 7-speed DCT at more than 330 km/h.

G-POWER:

G-POWER was established in 1983 and has ever since exclusively focused on tuning BMW automobiles. In 2008, the brand celebrated its 25-year anniversary and today, it is one of the most renowned providers on the global market. By developing the world-wide strongest versions of the most important BMW engines in-house, G-POWER significantly stands out from its competitors. G-POWER holds various world records and its 750 hp strong BMW M5 Hurricane RS is the fastest limousine in the world.

Following its recent world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the new ALPINA B3 S Bi-Turbo is now available in the UK. Higher levels of output and efficiency make the model's unique edge in this rarefied market sector even sharper.

The new B3 S reflects the ALPINA ethos of ultra high performance combined with environmental consciousness. The 3 litre straight six now yields an extraordinary 400hp at 6000 rpm and massive torque - 540 Nm at 4500 rpm. In Coupe form this delivers 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and 186 mph, yet economy is improved (29.1 mpg combined) and CO2emissions lowered to 224 g/km.

The B3S is readily identified by a redesigned front spoiler and a new rear diffuser which encloses the tailpipes, reducing lift and ensuring optimum engine cooling. The ALPINA Classic alloy wheels get the new design treatment seen on the latest B7.

With switchable six-speed automatic transmission in Saloon, Touring, Coupe and Convertible forms, the B3 S stays faithful to another ALPINA manufacturing edict - that the sporting nature of its cars should not compromise luxury, comfort and everyday usability.

First deliveries of the B3 S Bi-Turbo start in July with availability through Sytner, UK concessionaires for ALPINA.

ALPINA GB, part of the Sytner Group, has been the sole UK importer for ALPINA since 1983. ALPINA has worked closely with BMW since 1961, with shared warranty coverage since 1964. ALPINA were registered as an automobile manufacturer to ISO standards in 1983.
