Bilstein, the respected German suspension manufacturer, has released a version of its much-vaunted BILSTEIN B12 matched spring and damper package for BMW’s now very affordable E46 M3. </p>
<p>The BILSTEIN B12 packages consist of four Eibach Pro-Kit springs and four matched BILSTEIN dampers, making for the ultimate ‘real-world’ handling upgrade that balances unparalleled ride quality with exemplary handling and poise. The well proven set-up offers a drop of approximately 20mm.</p>
<p>The BILSTEIN dampers that come with the kit draw heavily from the firm’s motorsport heritage and are carefully matched BILSTEIN B6 units, using BILSTEIN’S pioneering inverted monotube design and gas pressure technology, which is vastly superior to the twin-tube design fitted by most manufacturers. After full dyno analysis, each kit application has been signed off by BILSTEIN test drivers and engineers at both the Nürburgring as well as the industry-leading Papenburg test facility – hence the reason that the BILSTEIN B12 kit offers such a peerless ride and handling balance.</p>
<p>The springs have been pre-stressed, shot peened and tempered, before receiving a two-stage zinc-phosphate and electrostatic epoxy coating for a long and durable life. The kit comes with a comprehensive 2 year, unlimited mileage warranty. As one might expect from BILSTEIN, full TÜV approval for every single application comes as standard.</p>
<p>The combined effect of the complete BILSTEIN B12 kit is a car with less body roll that corners with vastly improved dynamics. Thanks to reduced squat and dive, acceleration and braking characteristics are also enhanced.</p>

German Tuner Alpina has unveiled the Alpina BMW B3 GT3. The car uses the same twin-turbo 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder unit from the Alpina B3 S Bi-Turbo, but the B3 GT3 gets a modified exhaust system and a new rear silencer that boosts output by 8 PS (6 kW / 8 hp) over the standard engine with maximum power now rated at 408 PS (300 kW / 402 hp) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. The B3 GT3 also features a titanium rear silencer with double 115 mm tailpipes from Akrapovic. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes 4.6 seconds.</p>
<p>Wheels are the Alpina GT3 CLASSIC 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires for the road or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup+ tires for the track. The B3 GT3 also comes with a race-bred coilover sport suspension.</p>
<p>For the front end aerodynamics is a carbon fiber front splitter mounted under the front spoiler and dive plates mounted on the side of the front valence. At the rear is a diffuser and a carbon wing.</p>

<p>Inside is a black finish in leather and Alcantara and Recaro sports seats. </p>
<p>The B3 GT3 will be a limited-edition model with only 99 units being made available. The green/blue/silver livery (full-body vinyl wrap) from the official B6 GT3 racer with a complementary interior trim in green lacquer will be offered as optional.</p>
<p>The B3 GT3 goes on sale in the spring of 2012.</p>

a-­workx the tuner from Upper Bavaria is well known for its decade long motorsport experience. Whether in the FIA GT World Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup, Mini Challenge or currently in the ADAC GT Masters, the team from Wessling (near Munich) which surrounds Niko Wieth has consistently built up valuable experience, which makes the difference when building a customer vehicle. To be more precise it is this well founded knowledge with respect to chassis engineering and all round set up which only a handful specialists can demonstrate here in Europe. a-workx concentrates mainly on Porsche and vehicles from the BMW M range, shortly following the introduction of the BMW M3 E92 a lightly modified version was presented which quickly became the benchmark to be beaten. Not even the € 130 000 BMW M3 GTS was able to beat the lap time of the a-workx M3.</p>

<p>Now Niko Wieth has once again concerned himself with the M3 Coupé and this time even more intensively. The intention was to develop a vehicle for connoisseurs who wish to have an M3 with the performance of a GTS, maybe even a little better! The concept is based on three building blocks: Intelligent weight reduction, especially the unsprung and rotating masses, a moderate, appropriate to the complete vehicle concept and not excessive increase in power, together with a perfectly balanced and set up chassis.</p>
<p>For these reasons only the most exclusive components are used for the „M3 GTX“, which have been tested and proven on varying race tracks as well as on public roads in everyday traffic.</p>
<p><strong>To the vehicle details:</strong><br />
In order to improve the performance of the brakes to match the overall increased performance of the vehicle, a-workx chose a MOV`IT-­CER ceramic brake system. This choice also leads to a simultaneous reduction in the rotating mass of the brake discs. The ultra-light two piece discs are manufactured from a high tech carbon and ceramic material and lead to a 12 kg (26½ lbs) reduction in the rotating and unsprung mass. And this although they are noticeably larger (front: Ø380x40 mm / 15x19/16”, rear Ø380x32 mm / 15x1¼“). With the combination of monoblock fixed calipers (6 pot on the front and 4 pot on the rear), together with steel braided brake lines and special competition brake fluid with a higher boiling point, this brake system is able to cope even under race conditions.</p>

<p>In order to compensate for the concept related unfavourable front heavy weight distribution of the M3 which can result, together with the rear wheel drive, in traction problems, a-workx developed together with the suspension specialists KW a suspension for the M3 which is specially set up for the requirements and characteristics of this vehicle. This required weeks of test work together with professional race drivers and chassis specialists until Niko Wieth was finally satisfied with the results. The interaction between ride height, the weight distribution over all four wheels (wheel load), track and camber settings, the correct spring and damper settings, as well as the exact setting of the compression and rebound rates, is what is finally responsible for the maximum contact between the tyres and the road or track surface and so for the optimum traction and best possible grip.</p>
<p>One can imagine that such exact and fine set up of the suspension can be quickly negated when heavy wheels are then mounted. For this reason the M3 460cs is fitted with the possibly record breaking 19“ ATS Superlight wheels weighing only 7.9 kg / 17½ lbs (standard 10.2 kg / 22½ lbs) each.</p>
<p>Of course the power output also did not remain as standard. The core of the performance enhancement is the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system with special catalysts. The exhaust system is manufactured from high strength and super light titanium. The 25 kg (55 lbs) reduction in weight also results in an extremely positive effect on the overall vehicle weight.</p>

<p>In addition special camshafts have been installed, the air intake improved with a carbon fibre air box and a sport air filter and the motor electronics recalibrated to suit the modified parameters.</p>
<p>The result is simply sensational: The M3 460cs now has an additional 40 HP (DIN) at its disposal together with 460 Nm / 339 lbs/ft of torque (standard 400 Nm / 295 lbs/ft) and responds so instantaneously to the movement of the accelerator pedal it is as if the drivers central nervous system is directly connected to the throttle valve. The engine revs easily up to 8 500 rpm before gear change lamp urges the next flick of the gear change paddles. The weight reduction of over 70 kg (154 lbs) together with the increased power allow the M3 460cs to sprint from 0-­100 km/h (0-­62 mph) in 4.1 secs and from 0-­200 km/h (0-­125 mph) in 13.2 secs (standard 15.7 secs).</p>

<p>The best is still to come: Only once you are on a curvy stretch of pavement do you really notice the true qualities of the enhanced 3series. It turns precisely, cries for the next bend and circles enthusiastically and completely neutral every variation of curve. You experience how the perfect chassis set up harmonizes with the excellent Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires to create the highest possible mechanical grip. The reduction in rotating and unsprung mass plays a positive role and even allows that the component comfort remains. The ceramic brake system then provides icing on the cake. It provides for a deceleration as if there is no tomorrow. It is a good thing that the pilot is securely strapped in to the 7.4 kg (16½ lbs) light Recaro Pole Position bucket seats. This vehicle is pure emotion and driving pleasure. Alone the gratification of allowing the eyes to wander over the noble components manufactured from high quality titanium, aluminum, ceramic and carbon and to assured in the knowledge to have only the very best in front of you is worth the investment. The crown to the a-workx M3 is however the sound which the excellent titanium Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system releases from the high revving V8. This causes the hairs on the back of your neck to stand on end whilst a wide grin spreads across ones face. As has been said, pure driving pleasure!</p>

<p>The M3 GTS-V was painted with a Mineral White paint finish with matching gray, black, and green graphics. There’s also a new carbon front spoiler and carbon rear diffuser from Vorsteiner, as well as new Version 4.0 LED Angel Eyes courtesy of AiB. From there, new BMW Edition Black chrome kidneys and side gills were also added, as well as Mineral White Painted Reflectors from IND. The set-up and handling of the BMW M3 was also improved, thanks to a new KW Adjustable Spring Sleeve Kit that was installed to increase the coupe’s suspension stability. Rounding out the exterior changes are a new set of 18" Volk Racing TE37 wheels wrapped around Hankook RS-3 tires with Brembo GT-R brakes and a TPMS module from Macht Schnell.</p>

<p>Inside this raging sports car there are lots of enhancements, proving that this whole program is as comprehensive as it can get. The standard seats on the M3 were removed by a pair of Recaro x ASM RS-G Limited Blue Seats while new side brackets and polished floor mounts were installed by Macht Schnell.</p>
<p>Under the hood of the BMW M3 lies a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower. But thanks to a Macht Schnell Stage 2 Intake Charge Kit, you can expect that output to be increased significantly.</p>

IND has released the updated version and latest addition to the portfolio of BMW projects: Green Hell BMW M3 Coupe aka Meaner Than Hell.</p>

<p>IND’s story behind the project is rather unique and filled with emotion. IND’s Green Hell Portfolio Project car was first conceived as a concept immediately following an amazing journey to the home of all European motorsport and BMW’s own home country, Germany. The trip served as fuel to inspire the original Green Hell project, a car that was built as homage to all things racing and the Nurburgring in particular.</p>

<p>It comes with series of motorsport-inspired aerodynamic tweaks, new suspension and brakes that can take heavy abuse on tracks, a new set of lightweight alloy rims and racing-inspired interior parts, such as an Alcantara steering wheel.<br />
Again, the focal point of the project is the car’s engine. Fed compressed air by an ESS stage 2 supercharger kit, the S65 engine in Green Hell is main subject in this package. Generating over 530 horsepower at the rear wheels makes for a car where every supporting modification must be planned around this power level.</p>

Active Autowerke and <a href="http://martinoautoconcepts.com">Martino Auto Concepts</a> unveiled two impressive update packages to the popular BMW E92 M3 Coupe. Each of these cars feature custom paint jobs done by Martino Auto Concepts in New York as well as a full line of performance upgrades from Active Autowerke including their E92 M3 Stage 2 Supercharger Kits. The two colors are Matte Reventon and the stunning Ithaca Green.</p>

The list of upgrades of the two tuned up M3s is extensive, from styling improvements to performance, turning the BMW M3 into an even more fine machine.</p>

The high-speed test of "auto motor and sport" in Nardo in southern Italy is the ultimate challenge for all vehicle manufacturers. High temperatures and the fastest automobile race track in the world that knows only one load condition: full throttle. The 12.3 km-long route is basically a circle with a diameter of 4 km and an elevated roadway that is reminiscent of a steep curve. In practice, this results in an infinite straight line for miles of continuous full load driving, an operating condition that puts utmost load on the engine. Add uncomfortably high ambient temperatures and it simply doesn’t get any more challenging.</p>
<p>This abusive environment naturally separates automotive wheat from the chaff, because only those tuners who have carefully shepherded their design from development to production will survive the extreme loads in the "auto motor und sport" high-speed test in Nardo with no major engine damage. In addition, pushing the system to the top-speed limits in the real-world provides merciless feedback on the achieved performance improvements. Many tuners instead post performance numbers based solely on short-term dynomometer testing which are subject to many variables, and thus opens the door to abuse. It is certainly difficult to determine whether performance gains will hold up in the real world if such tests are the only ones performed.</p>

<p>G-POWER embraces the challenge with enthusiasm; this is the third time in 2011 that G-POWER has conducted a High Speed Test. It is an excellent chance to demonstrate the impressive, real-world performance of our supercharger systems and showcase the superior quality of G-POWER products.</p>
<p>Beginning with CAD development based on industry standards and on through prototyping and the selection of OEM-quality components, G-POWER continues its commitment to excellence through strenuous test drives and hot-country trials in the United Arab Emirates to ensure exceptionally high quality, reliability and durability. G-POWER is the only BMW tuner in the world to leverage the skills of our technology partner, AVL, during the development work. AVL technologies allow the combustion pressure in the combustion chamber to be determined precisely. Thanks to this equipment, the development engineers are able to develop software for the engine control unit that maintains the maximum combustion pressure of a BMW M3 supercharged with the G-POWER "Sporty Drive" supercharger system to a level comparable with the production engine. Thus, there is no evidence of overuse.</p>

<p>The ASA supercharger used in the system reflects the robustness and stability of BMW in every respect. ASA superchargers are used not only in the ALPINA B5S, B6S and B7, but also in the ALPINA B6 GT3. In the factory race cars ALPINA campaigned for racing in the "Green Hell" - the 24 hour race at the Nürburgring – ASA impressively demonstrated its reliability and quality over more than 3,500 km. The exclusive use of components of OEM quality is a fundamental part of the G-POWER philosophy and basis for the superior quality and durability of the G-POWER supercharger systems.</p>
<p>To demonstrate our impressive quality lead, G-POWER made the conscious decision to perform the high-speed tests on a vehicle using a standard production kit with no special modifications.</p>
<p>G-POWER drove the BMW M3 test vehicle on its own wheels from Bavarian Autenzell into the southern Italian Nardo well equipped with bestsellers from the G-POWER product line: G-POWER SILVERSTONE wheels with MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport road tires designed to handle the high-speed testing, G-POWER GM3 RS coilover suspension, and, last but not least, the G-POWER SK II „Sporty Drive“ supercharger system. Aerodynamic add-ons for front and rear completed the package of equipment used in Nardo.</p>

<p>Thus prepared, and after a 1,500 km journey with Christian Stöber, Vice President and Technical Director at G-POWER, at the helm of the "standard" M3 G-POWER SK II, the car achieved a top speed of exactly 333.29 km/h on Sunday, May 22nd. It is believed that with a taller gear, the vehicle could have topped 340 km/h. Thanks to a video recording, you can witness this moment „live“ (watch the video). Only two cars with 900hp and 1000hp were faster at this event.</p>
<p>The subsequently performed acceleration measurements confirmed the G-POWER M3 SK II has top marks here as well: For the standard sprint from 0-100 km/h and 0-200 km/h, values of 4.4 s* and 12.9 s* were observed.</p>
<p>For negative acceleration, G-POWER offers a high-performance brake system in the program. Powerful disc brakes with 396 mm diameter at the front axle and 380 mm at the rear axle in conjunction with 6-piston and 4-piston calipers allow decellerations beyond 1.0g. Of course, G-POWER customers are provided with the choice of rotor material: both steel brake discs and ceramic alternatives (which are about 50% lighter) are available.</p>
<p>After this eventful weekend, Mr. Stöber happily returned the G-POWER M3 SK II Autenzell by driving it back personally. He spent just over four days and just over 3,000 km behind the wheel of the 570hp M3 G-POWER SK II and commented that the experience was "one of my best business trips ever..."</p>
