The high-speed test of "auto motor and sport" in Nardo in southern Italy is the ultimate challenge for all vehicle manufacturers. High temperatures and the fastest automobile race track in the world that knows only one load condition: full throttle. The 12.3 km-long route is basically a circle with a diameter of 4 km and an elevated roadway that is reminiscent of a steep curve. In practice, this results in an infinite straight line for miles of continuous full load driving, an operating condition that puts utmost load on the engine. Add uncomfortably high ambient temperatures and it simply doesn’t get any more challenging.

This abusive environment naturally separates automotive wheat from the chaff, because only those tuners who have carefully shepherded their design from development to production will survive the extreme loads in the "auto motor und sport" high-speed test in Nardo with no major engine damage. In addition, pushing the system to the top-speed limits in the real-world provides merciless feedback on the achieved performance improvements. Many tuners instead post performance numbers based solely on short-term dynomometer testing which are subject to many variables, and thus opens the door to abuse. It is certainly difficult to determine whether performance gains will hold up in the real world if such tests are the only ones performed.

G-POWER embraces the challenge with enthusiasm; this is the third time in 2011 that G-POWER has conducted a High Speed Test. It is an excellent chance to demonstrate the impressive, real-world performance of our supercharger systems and showcase the superior quality of G-POWER products.

Beginning with CAD development based on industry standards and on through prototyping and the selection of OEM-quality components, G-POWER continues its commitment to excellence through strenuous test drives and hot-country trials in the United Arab Emirates to ensure exceptionally high quality, reliability and durability. G-POWER is the only BMW tuner in the world to leverage the skills of our technology partner, AVL, during the development work. AVL technologies allow the combustion pressure in the combustion chamber to be determined precisely. Thanks to this equipment, the development engineers are able to develop software for the engine control unit that maintains the maximum combustion pressure of a BMW M3 supercharged with the G-POWER "Sporty Drive" supercharger system to a level comparable with the production engine. Thus, there is no evidence of overuse.

The ASA supercharger used in the system reflects the robustness and stability of BMW in every respect. ASA superchargers are used not only in the ALPINA B5S, B6S and B7, but also in the ALPINA B6 GT3. In the factory race cars ALPINA campaigned for racing in the "Green Hell" - the 24 hour race at the Nürburgring – ASA impressively demonstrated its reliability and quality over more than 3,500 km. The exclusive use of components of OEM quality is a fundamental part of the G-POWER philosophy and basis for the superior quality and durability of the G-POWER supercharger systems.

To demonstrate our impressive quality lead, G-POWER made the conscious decision to perform the high-speed tests on a vehicle using a standard production kit with no special modifications.

G-POWER drove the BMW M3 test vehicle on its own wheels from Bavarian Autenzell into the southern Italian Nardo well equipped with bestsellers from the G-POWER product line: G-POWER SILVERSTONE wheels with MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport road tires designed to handle the high-speed testing, G-POWER GM3 RS coilover suspension, and, last but not least, the G-POWER SK II „Sporty Drive“ supercharger system. Aerodynamic add-ons for front and rear completed the package of equipment used in Nardo.

Thus prepared, and after a 1,500 km journey with Christian Stöber, Vice President and Technical Director at G-POWER, at the helm of the "standard" M3 G-POWER SK II, the car achieved a top speed of exactly 333.29 km/h on Sunday, May 22nd. It is believed that with a taller gear, the vehicle could have topped 340 km/h. Thanks to a video recording, you can witness this moment „live“ (watch the video). Only two cars with 900hp and 1000hp were faster at this event.

The subsequently performed acceleration measurements confirmed the G-POWER M3 SK II has top marks here as well: For the standard sprint from 0-100 km/h and 0-200 km/h, values of 4.4 s* and 12.9 s* were observed.

For negative acceleration, G-POWER offers a high-performance brake system in the program. Powerful disc brakes with 396 mm diameter at the front axle and 380 mm at the rear axle in conjunction with 6-piston and 4-piston calipers allow decellerations beyond 1.0g. Of course, G-POWER customers are provided with the choice of rotor material: both steel brake discs and ceramic alternatives (which are about 50% lighter) are available.

After this eventful weekend, Mr. Stöber happily returned the G-POWER M3 SK II Autenzell by driving it back personally. He spent just over four days and just over 3,000 km behind the wheel of the 570hp M3 G-POWER SK II and commented that the experience was "one of my best business trips ever..."

German tuner Rieger just released their new body kit for the older E85 BMW Z4. This new body kit consists of a full replacement complete with a front splitter in CF, Side skirts, rear diffuser with cf-style option.

The E89 Z4 have been out for a while and was replaced by the E85 Z4 model, but it’s always good to see older BMW still being on tuners plans.

SKN delivers the highest quality as a matter of principle! In contrast with many mass suppliers on the market, SKN has always placed great emphasis on sensible performance optimisation and TÜV-tested products. The result is that SKN, as market leader, looks after entire fleets (Deutsche Post, Lufthansa) and won the trust of the Federal Ministry of the Interior from a very early stage. Many police vehicles used for undercover assignments have been optimised individually by SKN for many years now. In addition, the TÜV certification and the entitlement to advertise in Germany with the TÜV sign demonstrate great trust in the performance capability of SKN.

Third World Record in Succession: AC Schnitzer builds fastest diesel car! AC Schnitzer ACS3 3.5d Coupé reaches 288.7 km/h in Nardo. It's a hat-trick: for the third time, AC Schnitzer has gone to Nardo in southern Italy and brought home a third world record for Aachen.

The legendary high-speed circuit has already been the setting for so many records. Once a year in southern Italy, under the aegis of “CONTINENTAL AG” and in collaboration with the editors of “AUTO BILD sportscars”, the 'creme de la crème' of vehicle tuners go head to head - this year on 18th and 19th October 2009.

The AC Schnitzer ACS3 3.5d Coupé succeeded in breaking the world record from 2006 for the fastest road-legal diesel car by over 8.7 km/h.

288.7 km/h

was the figure on the display of the GPS speedometer system on the 13 km long high-speed circuit - which is in principle a giant oversized circle - after the fast lap of the AC Schnitzer ACS3 3.5d Coupé.

After the records from 2006 with the TENSION as the fastest road-legal BMW, the world record still held by the GP3.10 GAS POWERED from 2007 for gas-powered vehicles, the ACS3 3.5d Coupé (based on the BMW 335d) has continued the success story.

Naturally the power upgrade which took the latest world record holder to success is part of the extensive AC Schnitzer special accessory range and available for all vehicles based on the 3.5d engine. It is TÜV-approved and available from BMW dealers.

Another impressive performance in Nardò came from the AC Schnitzer ACS4 3.5 turbo (based on the BMW Z4 sdrive 35i). At 303.1 km/h, this was not a new world, but such a high speed is almost unheard of for a Roadster. The Z4 was also running with the commercial version of the AC Schnitzer performance upgrade for 3.5i engines. Quickly, as we found out.

The fifth concept car of the "TUNE IT! SAFE!" VDAT initiative has been designed mainly by BMW tuning specialist AC Schnitzer

"Only serious, safe tuning will bring the hoped-for driving pleasure!" Under this motto, the Association of German Car Tuners (VDAT) every year launches a special concept car. In 2010, BMW AG is providing a BMW 123d Coupé for the Association's "TUNE IT! SAFE!" initiative, which is also supported by the Police and the Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Road Development. Most of the vehicle accessory equipment has been supplied by Aachen-based BMW tuning specialist AC Schnitzer.

As in the last four years, a police vehicle has been professional converted as part of the promotion. The AC Schnitzer "ACS1 2.3d", based on the BMW 123d Coupé, shows that safe tuning is far from boring. VDAT-member AC Schnitzer has upgraded the 2.3 D engine to 241 HP (177 kW) and 480 Nm. The police car with 6-speed automatic transmission now accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, so would acquit itself well even in the fastest pursuit. The latest AC Schnitzer wheels Type IV BiColor are fitted with tyres from TUNE IT! SAFE! main sponsor Hankook. The low, safe road position is achieved with the sports suspension from the Aachen-based specialist with 30 mm lowering. The bodystyling kit consists of two-piece front spoiler, rear skirt insert, rear wing and rear roof spoiler. Good visibility is ensured by the "LEDayFlex" modern daytime running lights from Hella, and optimum rearward vision by the AC Schnitzer "New Generation" sports mirrors.

In the interior, the guardians of the law could enjoy leather racing bucket seats with AC Schnitzer logo and silver genuine carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, centre console, door handles and steering wheel, which are perfectly complemented by the aluminium pedals and aluminium foot rests. A further highlight is the G-force indicator, which measures and displays the centrifugal forces inside the car.

The concept car impressively demonstrates large parts of the tuning accessory range from AC Schnitzer. To give the BMW the essential, authentic look of a "real" police car, Foliatec supplied the original stickering and Hella the flashing lights. Even the police could - and would like to - drive the converted vehicle in public road traffic. To their regret however, the concept car will not be brought into use and is not available in this complex form. Nonetheless, it makes an important contribution towards achieving the aim of the initiative: to combat illegal, unsafe tuning and counterfeiting. All AC Schnitzer conversions are however available commercially and are of course TÜV-approved.

The AC Schnitzer "ACS1 2.3d Coupé" will be on display for the first time at the Essen Motor Show on VDAT Stand No. 406 in Hall 10 from 28 November to 6 December 2009. "Serious and safe tuning is not only a company philosophy, but it is also our mission", emphasises Rainer Vogel, Managing Director of AC Schnitzer. And you can take this literally: Safe tuning with components from a reputable manufacturer not only brings the desired driving pleasure, but can even be lifesaving.

Attention all sporty, family men! The new BMW M3 is also available as a four-door saloon. That means it's very easy to justify buying a new plaything to your sceptical wife (or, in fact, to your own conscience). It's just a shame that the Bavarian company hasn't yet been able to bring itself to make an M3 estate.

The tuners at Geilenkirchen-based Manhart Racing probably thought the same thing when they built the car that BMW didn't want to build; an M3 touring. To produce it, the team centred around legendary mechanic Günther Manhart, furnished the E91 bodywork with the front apron, front side panels, side skirts and of course, the characteristic powerdome bonnet from the M3 saloon, designed their own M3-style rear apron and widened the rear wheel-arches to give them that M3 look. The aerodynamic rear-view mirrors really topped it all off. However, Günther Manhart knows that you obviously can't just make a car look good; it has to have something under the bonnet too. The axles, the tank, the complete steering system and a range of other hidden but otherwise essential parts have all come from the M3.

V10 power in the E91

So it only remains to talk about what really makes the M3: The 4.2-litre V8 engine. But wait! At this point it should be mentioned that Manhart Racing specialises in fitting various BMW models with the formidable 5.0-litre engine from the M5 E60. And so the V10 engine found itself used in another BMW model, the E91. After optimising the electronics and incorporating HJS's stainless-steel four-pipe exhaust system with two 200-cell racing catalytic convertors, the heavy-duty unit manages an extremely impressive 550 PS, which is kept on a tight leash by the 7-speed SMG gearbox, also taken from the M5 and by the corresponding 100% limited slip differential With the vehicle possessing such an armoury, it can catapult itself from 0 to 100km/h in only 4.3 seconds and on the motorway it easily cruises past most other performance saloons and estates (including the ‘true' M3 and M5 models) with its top speed of 324km/h.

It's a good thing then, that Manhart Racing has equipped the car with tunable Bilstein PSS10 coilover suspension and an extremely stable Stoptech Sport Trophy Kit braking system with a six-piston calliper with grooved 380mm brake discs at the front and a four-piston calliper with 355mm brake discs on the drive shaft.
The RÄD Monza three-part forged wheels with black rims fit perfectly with the character of this vehicle, and they are available in 9.5" and 10.5" x 20" sizes. Flat, size 255/30ZR20 and 295/25ZR20 Hankook S1 Evo tyres aim to provide higher levels of longitudinal and lateral acceleration.

Performance interior

A detailed look at the interior is also very much worth your. Driver and passenger both sit in outstanding BMW sports seats, and the back seats can be upholstered with leather or Alcantara to match those in the front. Likewise, the leather interior with Alcantara roof and door linings as well as the carbon fittings and the BMW performance steering wheel with illuminating indicator switches really give the car that racing look.

Manhart Racing has set the purchase price for the complete car package at around €120,000. If desired, your current basis car can be upgraded.

Technical facts

Vehicle: BMW M3 E91 5.0 V10 SMG

Bodywork: M3 E90 front apron, M3 E90 front fenders, M3 E90 bonnet, M3 E90 side skirts, M3 E90 wing mirrors, Manhart Racing-designed, M3-style, rear apron, widened rear wheel arches in the style of the M3.

Engine: 5.0-litre V10 from the M5 E60, modified engine electronics, lifting of the Vmax limiter, complete stainless steel exhaust system with 2 x 200-cell HJS catalytic converters and 4 x 86mm exhaust pipes, tank from the M3 E90, 550 PS.

Transmission: 7-speed SMG from the M5 E60, 100% limited slip differential from the M5 E60, front and rear axel from the M3 E90.

Chassis: Bilstein PSS10 coilover suspension, steering system from the M3 E90.

Brakes: Stoptech Sport Trophy Kit front and back, 6-piston callipers and 380mm slats in the front, and 4-piston callipers and 355mm slats at the rear.

Wheel/Tyres: three-part RÄD Monza aluminium rims in 9.5" x 20" ET20 and 10.5" x 20" ET20, Hankook Ventus S1 Evo Tyres in sizes 255/30ZR20 and 295/25ZR20

Interior: heated BMW performance sports seats, leather-covered back seats in the style of the front seats, full leather interior with Alcantara roof and door lining, BMW performance steering wheel with illuminating indicator switches, acceleration and ¼ mile time displays.

To be considered, contestants must record a short video about their favorite car, truck or motorcycle project and explain why they are the best expert for their category. Winners earn the title of “Motors Master” in their category, receive a trip to Las Vegas to attend the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show and receive an eBay Motors shopping spree.

eBay Motors, the No.1 online automotive marketplace worldwide, today announced the 2009 Motors Master Contest, designed to find America’s top vehicle enthusiast in four distinct categories. Winners earn the title of “Motors Master” in their category, receive a trip to Las Vegas to attend the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show and receive an eBay Motors shopping spree.

Entrants will record a short video about their favorite car, truck or motorcycle project and explain why they would make the best do-it-yourself project expert for their category, and upload it to the Motors Master Web site at http://www.motorsmaster.ebaymotors.com. Expert judges and the public will vote for the top entrants in the following categories:

•	Muscle cars
•	Tuners
•	Off-road vehicles
•	Motorcycles

eBay Motors will bring the top winner from each of the four categories to the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas from November 4-7, where their winning project vehicle may be displayed for over 100,000 attendees to view at the largest automotive specialty performance products trade event in the world. Each winner also will receive a $2,500 eBay Motors shopping spree to buy parts and accessories for future projects at www.ebaymotors.com, where a part or accessory sells every second.

The top projects will be selected based on the entrants’ videos and their written descriptions of how they used eBay Motors to fuel their projects and why they should be chosen a 2009 Motors Master. The initial round of votes to determine the finalists in each category will be cast by members of the public who visit the site to rate the videos and view the entrants’ descriptions (based on a scale of one to five stars) along with a panel of expert judges. Expert judges from the automotive industry will review the Finalists’ submissions and determine the Grand Prize winner for each category. The celebrity judging panel experts will consist of:

•	Famous Rhodes, director of eBay Motors
•	Peter MacGillivray, vice president, events and communications, SEMA
•	John Neff, editor-in-chief of Autoblog
•	Paul Crowe, editor-in-chief of thekneeslider.com
•	Rob Einaudi, editor-in-chief of CarDomain

Additionally, eBay users visiting the Motors Master site who rate videos can also enter to win a $1,000 eBay Gift Certificate. Visitors can enter once a day during the six-week contest period.

Entries must be submitted by August 31, and voting will continue through September 14, 2009. Ten finalists will be selected for each category. The celebrity judging panel will choose one grand prize winner from each category and announce the results in early October.

“We encourage anyone who loves wheels, engines, spoilers, instrument panels or any other vehicle add-on to send us a video and tell us why they should be a 2009 Motors Master,” said Famous Rhodes, director of parts and accessories for eBay Motors. “eBay Motors offers the widest selection of parts and accessories anywhere, and we are excited to see the passion from our community come to life through this contest.”
The eBay Motors Enthusiast Contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, District of Columbia, and Canada, unless otherwise prohibited, and entrants must be at least 18 years old. Official rules can be found at http://ebay.promotionexpert.com/motorsmaster/rules.html.

Hartge’s latest kit may just be one of the best alternatives available to change styling of the BMW X6.

The actual kit itself consists of a number of aerodynamic pieces, including an aggressive front spoiler, a custom rear skirt and side sills for both sides of the car. Meanwhile, there are also wheel arch extensions with air intakes at the front, and wheel arch extensions at the rear as well.
These modifications must be had in conjunction with Hartge's stainless steel tail pieces that accommodate four tailpipes, and also include a solid rear diffuser. Other mods available for the X6 include carbon-fiber exterior mirror casings and Hartge emblems to replace the BMW-badges on the bonnet and at the rear.

Overall, the Hartge kit looks much more impressive than the X6 M SUV, although the kit is only designed for the xDrive30d, xDrive35d, xDrive35i and xDrive50i models.
